I know if you're reading reviews for this sleepsuit you're most likely as sleep deprived as I was a week ago.I'm a first time mom of a 2 month old who WOULD NOT no matter what we tried let me sleep at night. His longest stretch of sleep was maybe (if I was lucky) 2 hours and then it was 30 minutes to an hour each night. I've read article after article and have asked numerous other parents for advice on what we were doing wrong. Each night we were up soothing, holding, feeding or changing at least 6 times. In my crazed sleep deprived mind I resorted to buying random sleep sacks and swaddles at the wee hours of the morning on Amazon. All claiming to be exactly what we needed for better sleep. Nothing worked. I had 2 friends mention this baby merlin suit and I finally purchased it last week as my little man was within the weight for the 3 to 6 month size. When the suit was delivered I tore into it like a kid on Christmas.First thoughts. It's really thick!! I immediately worried that my little guy was going to over heat. We keep our heat set on 70 with fans going at night but it still (a week in) freaks me out. It's a pain in the butt to put on. This suit is thick with layers and is rather stiff, two very difficult things to throw on a squirmy baby. Once on, it's almost worth the price just for the laugh. It looks completely ridiculous.Trying it out. Our first 2 nights were pretty much the same with no change. I grew even more discouraged with thoughts of having to wait until this kid was 18 and out of the house for me to finally sleep at least 3 consecutive hours. On day 3, my husband took little man so I could go attempt a nap upstairs, but I was still so tired and frustrated I ended up taking out my anger on the nursery by moving and rearranging furniture instead of sleeping. I decided to move the humidifier we had in there to a different wall....the wall where we had the nightlight plugged in. I unplugged the nightlight with thoughts of moving it to a different wall but completely forgot to plug the 99 cent Walmart nightlight back in before we went to bed that night. We did our nightly routine and I put our little dude in his silly looking suit wishing for a miracle and we went to bed in the complete dark. 4 and a half hours later I woke up panicked that I hadn't heard a peep out of him. Went in to check on him just knowing he was having a heat stroke and of course woke him up trying to touch his hands, feet and neck. Completely fine (maybe a little warm) but absolutely fine. I got up only 2 more times that first night. And the 3 following nights have been about the same if not better with only 2 to 3 wakings.I'm so beyond relieved to finally have some sleep I had to write a review. This is night 6. We went down for bed at 8:30. He slept for 5, yes 5 hours before waking up. He immediately fell back asleep for another 3 and a half hours. Is this suit magic? I honestly can't say. Is it working? I honestly don't know. Even at the beginning when we first tried it he was falling asleep faster and seemed more calm but I can't say whether the change in sleep is solely due to this suit or the fact that I forgot to plug in a stupid cheap nightlight back into a wall....Maybe it's the combination of being in the suit as well as the pitch black room? I don't know and I'm not about to trial and error my way to finding out. lolI would like to mention one little tip though because I know others are concerned about how hot this suit is. When we get up for night feedings and diaper changes I unzip him and let him cool down/air out while he's nursing on one side. I then do a diaper change and then again flip him to my other side and unzip him again. When he's nursing I only unzip 1 side so he doesn't wiggle his way back out of it. I keep the side closest to me zipped and unzip the side farthest. It gives me a little more peace of mind knowing he's not staying cooped up in the heat of the suit. When he's done and pretty much asleep I zip him up and put him in his crib and he's back in sleep town within a minute.I'm not sure if this review will help, other than giving you something to read at 3 in the morning while your eyes feel dry as the desert and are going crossed from sleep deprivation while your little one wiggles in your arms bright eyed and ready to party.Maybe you too have a cheap stupid nightlight to unplug? Who knows. For anyone reading this I wish you the best of luck and hope that you get some sleep soon.I have a 4 month old who has had a very hard time sleeping more than maybe 1-2 hours at a time at night without being cuddled which ended up with me cuddling him and losing a lot of sleep over the last few months. I just returned to work and was at a breaking point so I decided to give this sleep suit a try and it has truly worked! From the first nap he took in it the day I got it he slept well and has been sleeping 3-5 hour stretches at night only slightly waking to eat and go right back to sleep. If you have a baby that likes warmth and cuddles you NEED this suit. Trust me, it will help big time! I had forgotten what it was like to get a decent enough night of sleep!! I’m writing this review just before purchasing another one! This sleepsuit came up a lot in different online blogs and postings with parents with sleepless kids so I figured I was probably getting more hype than not when I purchased it, but I was at my whit’s end with my 2 month old’s sleep deficit continuing to grow.To my surprise, this thing works like, well, magic! My 2 month old has a terrible time with his startle reflex (likely from transitioning into his REM sleep) which causes him to free his arms from his swaddle and then repeatedly flail his arms and grab his face until he can’t sleep anymore. The first few days we put him in this, he didn’t he move his arms. He would flinch a little, then immediately settle. He slept so soundly, it was incredible. After that, he seems to have learned he can move in it. He will reach and touch his face occasionally in his sleep, but he has always settled without interference.I purchased the small (1-3 mo) size for my 2 (almost 3) month old. At about 13.5 lbs, it is a good fit (a little snug which it’s supposed to be). There is a little difficulty in getting his arms and legs all the way through the sleeves and legs, but it’s not too bad. The body zip up is very convenient though. It does seem like a very padded, thick suit. We keep our thermostat at 66 degrees F while he’s in it (his room reads about 70-72) because it seems like it would be warm, but so far he hasn’t woken up sweaty and he never seems to feel too warm to the touch.I’m definitely happy with the purchase. Honestly, seeing how hysterical my kid looked in this thing for the first time was worth the $40. I hadn’t laughed that hard in a long while.Bought this because my 3 months old son was having a hard time sleeping at night. A friend mentioned this was a miracle for her child, so I went on Amazon and purchased it. It actually came the same day. We tried it that night and he slept 9-530. The 2nd night he slept 1030-7. Tonight is night 3 and he’s sleeping away. This product is amazing. This baby looks like a little Michelin man, but it works. Just remember the ABCs of sleeping when using this product.Loved this product!! My son is VERY clingy. To the point where she would not sleep unless he was held and rocked. We bought this after trying many different swaddles and he has gone night sleeping 8 hours!!!! My only complaint is it is VERY VERY VERRRYYY hard to put on, but that’s just because it’s meant to be tight! I also wish there was a zipper or something for easy diaper changes. No one likes to wake a baby in the middle of the night with a diaper change lol other than that… I totally recommend!!!My baby is a good night sleeper when swaddled but does not sleep during the day unless it’s in his swing or a contact nap… I got the idea to put this on to cut his nails so he couldn’t move and he fell asleep within 10 minutes at 4 pm without being held… I couldn’t believe it!! Absolute game changer for me during the day!!This worked great for us as we transitioned from swaddling to a sleeping bag. Baby was about 4 months old and still startling himself awake a lot but was too big for a swaddle and just escaping from it. This worked really well and limited the startle reflex whilst getting him used to sleeping more freely. It was a bit pricey for us really as we didnt end up using it for long, as I guess most people wouldn't but it definitely helped. I will hopefully sell it on somewhere secondhand. My only worry was how hot baby could get in it ( as there was some warm weather at the time and it seems pretty thick).I never ever review products but this is totally different. I had my 3rd baby in august and its been a total nightmare getting him to sleep out of our arms. After watching him i noticed he would startle himself awake constantly if i wasnt holding him. I then decided to try swaddiling, everything. I was constantly sat holding him, the house was a tip, it was to be honest so hard as i felt i had no life. Bought this on a whim as never heard of it. Well this is the 4th day in a row hes slept on his own for up to 4 hours! Its a miracle. Now i have to wake him up! Honestly if your baby wont sleep out if your arms try this, its much better then a swaddle!Bought this as I've just moved back to the UK from Africa and needed something warm to replace a light sleeping bag I was using. Whilst the sleep suit is not necessarily magical in keeping my baby asleep, it does seem to delay the inevitable wakenings and keeps him cosy and warm and comfortable. It's nicely made and easy to get into and out of (my baby hates things that take too long to get into or out of). Size-wise - he is 4 months old but quite big (8kg) so I bought the 6-9month size and whilst it is a bit big for him yet it is still safe and snug and he now has room to grow into it. Overall am pleased, but as I said - "magic" might be a bit strong :-)Worked for one night then stopped. It’s honestly very depressing not being able to get your baby to sleep or they keep waking up due to startling. After reading the reviews, I gave it a go. It worked so well the first day. Baby went from cat napping to sleeping for two hours and the whole night! The next day, we were back at square one! Im just so sad it didn’t work for us and I really dont know what more I can do.I wanted to love this, as was desperate for a good transition from swaddling to unswaddled. When it arrived quite dirty, I was already annoyed, but then upon further inspection realized it simply wouldn't work (even if washed) as it was so incredibly thick and uncomfortable looking, I sent it back.
